Winner of the 1994 Carnegie Medal. Link, 17 years old and driven from his parental home, has drifted to London, jobless and friendless. He meets Deb, a homeless girl, who gives him some meaning in life. He doesn't realize that Deb is a journalist hunting a serial killer who preys on the homeless.
